PRIOR TO TRAVEL

Leave the following with at least one trusted associate or family member:

All contact information including residences, offices and schools.

Primary and alternate emergence contact information.
Medical information.

Detailed itineraries of planned trips.

Copies of passports, visas, tickets and other official documents.

Additional measures:

Register with your embassy, consulate or diplomatic post in your destination. If one is not available, register with your country's representative.

Print out emergency contact information and useful numbers for your destination and keep them with you at all times.

Maintain a family/individual personal profile, including photos. Leave a copy with an associate.

Ensure passports and visas are valid for at least six months.

IN-COUNTRY PREPLANNING

Keep an emergency kit on hand including first-aid kit, candles, matches, radio, extra batteries, global positioning system gps, two-way radios and canned foods/beverages.

Have extra blankets and sleeping bags.

Have extra refills of prescription and non-prescription medicine, if possible.

Maintain an updated emergency contact lists.
Keep personal records, passports and other important items in a secure, fire-proof location. Keep photocopies of all those records in a separate location.

Keep extra currency (local currency and the currency of your home country) and/or travelers checks in a secure, fire-proof location in your residence and place of business. Have enough funds to cover costs for at least three days.

Maintain an inventory of household and personal items. Keep a photocopy in an alternate location.

Keep vehicles in good working condition.

IN THE EVENT OF AN EMERGENCY OR CRITICAL SECURITY SITUATION

Do not panic. Thoroughly assess the situation and determine how it might impact you and your family.

Contact your security provider for information specific to the event and instructions or call vacationtechnician.com and we will alert your national embassy staff:

Monitor local media for changes to a quickly developing situation.

Have a bag packed for each family member.

Have open-ended airline, rail or cruise tickets for each family member. Know which carriers or services will be available during a crisis.

Designate a primary and alternate assembly point easily accessible to all family members.
